Austin didn’t set out to start a company doing the best concrete coatings in St. Louis overnight. Before founding TruGrit, he worked as a mechanical engineer at Ford Motor Company — but after three years in the corporate world, he knew it wasn’t for him. He wanted to build something of his own.

That “something” came from a problem he kept seeing across the St. Louis concrete coatings industry: companies everywhere were installing the same cheap, overseas-made epoxy products, riddled with holes in their warranties, and homeowners never had access to anything better.

So Austin set out to fix that. He partnered with Penntek — a polyurea and polyaspartic coatings manufacturer that produces its products right here in the USA (Lakeville, MN), sourcing almost all of its components domestically. It’s the highest-quality concrete coating product in the country, for a few clear reasons: the best lifetime warranty in the business, the only chemically bonded basecoat on the market, and the only UV-protected top coat with FadeLock technology. Offering the best product means we don’t compete for last place on price — you’ll get a high-quality floor coating at a fair price. We won’t be the cheapest, and we won’t be the most expensive.

Today, TruGrit is a true family business. While Austin runs day-to-day operations, his wife and new child are part of the mission too — becoming the company St. Louis turns to for a high-quality garage floor, basement floor, or patio coating. Thanks to the incredible customers we’ve had over the years, our business has grown fast. We’ve installed floor coatings in thousands of homes across the St. Louis metro and worked with all kinds of commercial and light industrial clients.
